Join us once a month on Saturdays for a delightful day of learning and experiencing life on a homestead! Each month, we’ll explore a unique theme, offering hands-on activities, workshops, and plenty of fun for all ages. Whether you're interested in sustainable farming, foraging, cooking, or simply want to enjoy a day in the countryside, these events are perfect for you!

Upcoming Saturdays:

  • October 19, 2024: Farm, Foraging, and Fairies – A full day at the farm creating magical habitats for our fairy friends using various foraged supplies and our imagination. A special tea party will conclude the day sharing our creations and delicious homemade treats and teas we prepare from the garden. 5+

  • November 23, 2024: Saturday Farm Cooking WorkshopCome spend a day at the farm and immerse in farm life and develop farm to table culinary skills! We will create various foods and dishes from scratch and delight in creating our own healthy, nutritious and delicious food together! 7+

  • December 7th, 2024: Gingerbread Magic ! Creating Gingerbread houses and people!

  • March 29th, 2025: Sheep to Shawl Saturday Workshop – Join us for a special day on the farm to explore the wonders of fiber arts and crafts! This immersive workshop invites children to connect with farm life while learning hands-on creative skills.

    From sheep to shawl, participants will discover the entire process of transforming raw animal fibers into beautiful, usable materials. Using wool and other fibers sourced directly from the farm, we’ll dive into a variety of techniques, including finger knitting, weaving, yarn kites, felting, and more.

    Children who are ready or already practice crocheting and knitting will get a chance to practice and gain new skills with our expeirence fiber arts teachers!

    Through this engaging experience, children will not only create unique take-home crafts but also gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the art of traditional craftsmanship.

Children age: depending on the nature of our activity/workshop: 5 and up.

Hours: 10am to 3pm

Sliding scale: $75 to $125 / day

We need a minimum registration to run the program. If we do not reach it, we may cancel any given Saturday with a 2-day notice.

Stony Hollow's Farm, Forest & Garden Program is a vibrant outdoor experience tailored for children aged 3 to 15. Beginning each day at our log circle, surrounded by the warmth of a fire during colder months, children embark on a journey of hands-on learning. From tending to the needs of our friendly farm animals, including cows, mini horses, donkeys, goats, hens, rabbits, and more, to engaging in homesteading projects like butter making and soap making, our program immerses children in the wonders of farm life. Amidst daily chores, gardening endeavors, and cooking adventures with fresh produce from our garden in warmer months, our students foster a deep connection with nature, learning essential skills while exploring the boundless beauty of The Bluestone Wild Forest that surrounds our property. With a harmonious blend of educational activities and natural exploration, each day at Stony Hollow unfolds organically in sync with the rhythm of the children and nature.

There is so much life on the farm all year long and we look forward to experiencing farm life with your children!
